Introduction

Brookhouse Schools are private international day schools in Nairobi, Kenya, with premium on-site boarding at the Karen campus for boarders. The group operates two campuses, Karen and Runda, admitting pupils aged 1 to 18. The school delivers a UK curriculum across Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form, including IGCSE and A-Levels, with a BTEC qualification option. Billing schedule & payment terms

- Standard billing frequency: fees are determined for the academic year and billed on a three-term basis. Termly instalments are due on 1 September, 5 January and 20 April (dates given for the 2025–2026 schedule).
- Candidate classes (Years 11 and 13) are billed per semester and payable in two equal instalments on the specified semester dates. IFY is billed per semester with its own two-instalment schedule.
- Fees are payable on or before the first day of each term. A monthly instalment plan is available on request.
- Early payment discount: 2% on tuition when full-year payment is made before the start of the academic year.
- Late payment penalty: 2% charged for late payment, commencing two weeks after the start date of term.

What is included / excluded

- Included in tuition: lunch, textbooks and exercise books.
- Not included: registration fee and examination fees. Trips, residential field courses, some optional clubs/activities and transport are charged separately. Students must supply certain items of equipment listed in the school handbook.

Other costs and recurring optional charges

- Individual music lessons (instrumental or vocal): KSh 17,000 per term.
- Yearbook fee (annual): KSh 3,200 per year.
- Kenya pupil pass and re-entry pass (for non-Kenyans): KSh 15,000 (subject to government adjustment).
- Medical cover for boarding students (optional): KSh 75,000 per year (subject to adjustment by the provider).
- Trips, residential field courses, optional activities and transport are charged in addition and will be notified in official communications.
- School uniform is required; the uniform list is provided by the school. (Uniform item prices are set out in the school's uniform list.)

Refunds, withdrawal and related conditions

- A full term's written notice is required for all withdrawals. If proper notice is not given, a full term's fees is payable in lieu of such notice. Final clearance documents are issued only after settlement of obligations.
- Specific refundable items: the caution money for IFY students is refundable only upon progression to an NCUK university (other caution monies are held as specified).

Fee payment methods and options

- Currency: fees are quoted in Kenyan shillings; payments may be made in Kenyan shillings or US dollars. Those choosing to pay in US dollars will be advised of the exchange rate at the time of payment.
- Accepted payment modes: direct deposits / SWIFT transfers to the school bank accounts (bank details are provided on fee statements/invoices). Cheques and cash payments are not accepted.
- A monthly instalment plan is available; enquiries are handled by the school's administration.
Academics

Brookhouse Schools teaches British Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge A Levels, BTEC Qualification for students aged 1 to 18.

Curriculum

The school provides a UK curriculum across Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form at the Karen and Runda campuses. The Primary Years syllabus follows the UK National Curriculum. High School education (Years 9–11) is broad-based and includes additional language tuition, PE and the arts. IGCSE and A-Levels are offered as part of the upper secondary and Sixth Form provision. Brookhouse is fully accredited by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), Edexcel and AQA boards to deliver the UK curriculum. Learners are taught from age 1 to 18, spanning all divisions.

Exam Results

2025 A-Level results show 28% A, 54% A-A, 76% A-B and 95% A-C. 2025 IGCSE results show 20% A, 48% A-A, 75% A-B and 96% A-C.

Higher Education Progression

Brookhouse alumni have gained acceptance to Russell Group universities, including the University of Manchester, Imperial College London, Warwick University and the University of Sheffield.

Gifted and Talented

Academic Extension provides enrichment through languages (French, Spanish, Mandarin) and a range of clubs and programmes such as Enterprise, Journalism, Model United Nations, Mooting Club, Web Rangers and World Scholars Cup.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Learners feel safe in the school environment, which supports their education and Healthy relationships. Form tutors and class teachers monitor daily progress, while Heads of Year work alongside educators. Heads of Year may attend parent-teacher meetings to discuss progress and help designate year groups into bands reflecting students' academic abilities. All staff aim to support the student community. The Counselling Team advocates for student well-being and offers academic, social, emotional, and personal guidance.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Kiswahili are offered. Language study is compulsory at the High School and IGCSE levels, and the A-level course also has language options available. Foreign language acquisition is regarded as a critical element of education for internationally-minded children and their families.

Mental Wellbeing

The Counselling Team advocates for student well-being and offers academic, social, emotional, and personal guidance. The school recognises that learners can only reach their potential if they are happy and secure. Form tutors and Heads of Year monitor well-being through daily progress and oversight of educational practices. Counsellors are available to provide additional support when needed.

Safeguarding

Learners feel safe in the school environment, enabling them to explore their education and develop healthy relationships. The school supports all members of the school community in collaboration with their families. Happiness and security underpin safeguarding and welfare across Brookhouse.

Admissions

Admissions

1. Register Your Interest. Prospective families are encouraged to contact the Admissions Team to begin the process. The Admissions Team is available to guide applicants through the next steps and answer questions. The school welcomes students who live locally in Nairobi, those who live outside the city, and families moving to Kenya from elsewhere.

2. Application. Complete an Application Form with your child's school reports attached. Applications are submitted for the Karen Campus via brookhousekaren.openapply.com and for the Runda Campus via brookhouserunda.openapply.com. The submission initiates the formal admissions process.

3. Assessment / Taster Day. Kindergarten students are welcome to join a taster day and are assessed by the Head of the Kindergarten's section.

4. Interview. Year 3 to Year 12 / IFY students are invited to attend an interview with the Head of Year before meeting with the Headteacher.

5. Offer Letter. An offer letter is sent to parents and legal guardians.

6. Registration & Caution Money. A registration fee of 45,000 KSh per child applies. An additional caution money of 100,000 KSh is paid for day students and 200,000 KSh for boarding students.

7. Admission. Your child is admitted to Brookhouse School.

Scholarships

Nsouli Scholars Programme is a global initiative that promises to transform lives by enabling 50 extraordinary students at any one time to attend any Inspired school on a full scholarship for the duration of their education. The programme aims to expand the community and empower children of all backgrounds with opportunities in academics, sports, the arts and extracurricular activities. The endowment honours Nadim Nsouli, who founded Inspired in 2013, and scholarships are awarded to individuals of Lebanese origin. Brookhouse participates in the Nsouli Scholars Programme as part of the Inspired group.
