Introduction

Erasmus Frankfurter City School is a trilingual educational institution in Frankfurt’s Ostend district, catering to children from one year old through primary school. The school operates as a state-approved private facility following the Hessian curriculum, integrated with an immersion method in German, English, and Spanish. In each primary class, native speakers for each language work alongside the children throughout the day. Facilities include a library, a gymnasium, and specialized rooms for art and music. A distinctive feature is its status as a certified "Fairtrade School," promoting global awareness and sustainable consumption. Students participate in the "Erasmus Hour," a dedicated time for cross-grade projects and independent research. The school provides an organic lunch program prepared in its own kitchen. This trilingual approach ensures students interact naturally with three languages across all subjects and social activities, rather than through isolated language lessons.

- Registration (one‑time): EUR 75.
- Admission/entry (one‑time): EUR 2,200 (primary school).
- Admission/entry (one‑time): EUR 350 (gymnasium, where the Gymnasium fee schedule applies).

Tuition — Primary School (Grundschule)
- Monthly tuition: EUR 566 per month.
- Meals (verpflegung): EUR 146 per month (charged in addition to tuition).
- Optional late‑afternoon supervision (4:30–18:00): EUR 115 per month (optional; standard afternoon schooling up to 16:30 is included in the stated tuition for 2025/26).
- Annual learning‑materials fee: EUR 115 per year.
- Other costs explicitly excluded from the figures above: class trips, school holiday projects, school clothing/uniform, and personal materials.

Calculated payment equivalents (derived from the published monthly amounts):
- Tuition per year (monthly × 12): EUR 6,792 (EUR 566 × 12).
- Meals per year: EUR 1,752 (EUR 146 × 12).
- Optional late supervision per year: EUR 1,380 (EUR 115 × 12).
- Tuition per typical half‑year/term (approx. 6 months): EUR 3,396 (EUR 566 × 6). These term/year totals are arithmetical calculations based on the published monthly amounts and the school's monthly billing practice.

Tuition — Gymnasium / Secondary (where applicable)
- Monthly tuition example from the school's general terms: EUR 580 per month (07:30–17:00 model).
- Meals (example): EUR 110 per month. Optional late supervision (example): EUR 100 per month. Annual learning‑materials example: EUR 150 per year. Where these alternate figures apply, they follow the same monthly billing principles described below.

Billing schedule and payment terms
- The school issues fees as monthly charges; fees are payable monthly in advance and the decisive criterion for timely payment is the crediting of funds to the school's bank account. Monthly fees are due for the full month, including during holiday and closure periods.
- Standard collection method: monthly advance payment by direct debit/SEPA authorization is used; the school notes that the receipt of funds on the school's account determines timeliness. Annual adjustments to fees may be made with advance notice.

Boarding / residential provision
- Boarding is not offered. The school operates as a full‑day day school with supervision and after‑school care (published supervision hours from 07:30 to 18:00), not a residential or boarding facility. No boarding fees apply.

Other recurring and occasional costs
- School clothing / uniform: costs are additional and not included in the published monthly tuition. In some founding or special cases the school has issued vouchers for school clothing; otherwise families should budget separately.
- Class trips, holiday project fees, extra‑curricular external provider charges, materials for personal use and similar activity costs are additional to tuition and billed separately or collected when the activity is scheduled.

Refunds and cancellation
- Registration and admission fees are not refundable.
- If a school contract is cancelled before the pupil's first day, the guardians remain liable to pay tuition until a replacement student is found, for up to a maximum period specified in the general terms (for example: up to six months). Standard contract termination rules and notice periods apply as set out in the school's terms.

Accepted payment methods and banking details
- The school accepts bank transfers; the published bank account (IBAN/BIC) is used for fee payments and for the registration payment to be received before processing. Direct debit (Einzugsermächtigung / SEPA) is the usual method for monthly fee collection. Specific card payment acceptance is not listed in the published fee and terms documents.

Brief note about completeness of published figures
- The school publishes monthly tuition and associated monthly charges for the primary school and a separate set of terms for the gymnasium. The site provides monthly figures (used above) and the school's terms set out that fees are charged monthly in advance; explicit official per‑term invoices or a distinct per‑term published price sheet are not shown, so term and annual totals above have been calculated from the published monthly amounts and from the school's monthly billing statements. The school's published material does not list any boarding fees because no boarding is offered.
Academics

The Erasmus Frankfurter City School teaches Bespoke Curriculum, German Curriculum for students aged 1 to 11.

Curriculum

The Erasmus Frankfurter City School follows the mandatory curricula of the State of Hesse, implemented through a progressive, open, holistic, multisensory approach. It uses a team-teaching model with two teachers per class, one German and one native-English or native-Spanish, to deliver bilingual instruction across Mathematics, Social Studies and other subjects. German, English and Spanish are used as working languages for interdisciplinary teaching under the 'one language per teacher' principle to support immersion. The school emphasizes autonomous learning through weekly plans and longer interdisciplinary project weeks, and aims for pupils to complete primary school able to speak and write German and their first foreign language, with basic skills in the second foreign language. English and Spanish immersion is daily with native-speaking teachers, and, after about three years, pupils can speak and understand the language, read a children's book in that language, and present a topic by year 4. The school operates as a full-day program with after-school supervision and enrichment activities.

Student Teacher Ratio

Two teachers per class (one German and one native-English or native-Spanish) per class, enabling team-teaching and bilingual instruction.

Gifted and Talented

Talents are addressed through team-teaching and collaboration with special needs teachers and educational therapists; remedial and challenging work is provided as needed.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school's approach is open, holistic and multi-sensory, implemented within a progressive educational philosophy. It follows the mandatory curricula of Hessen while emphasising autonomous learning through weekly plans and longer interdisciplinary project weeks. The team-teaching model enables teachers to identify pupils' strengths or weaknesses and to provide more challenging work or remedial support as needed. Special needs teachers and educational therapists work with pupils to address social or learning deficits and talents, with progress reviewed by objective testing. The school fosters partnership and community and offers an enrichment programme including after-school activities such as yoga, drama, chess, handicrafts and collaborations with a music school.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Special needs teachers and educational therapists work with pupils to address social or learning deficits and talents. Team teaching allows for remedial support or more challenging work where necessary. Progress is reviewed by objective testing.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school offers trilingual instruction in German, English and Spanish using the immersion method. Pupils are exposed to English or Spanish throughout the day by native-speaking teachers. German, English and Spanish are used as the working languages for interdisciplinary instruction by native-speaking teachers in a one-teacher-one-language approach. Each class is led by two teachers, one speaking German and the other the foreign language (English or Spanish), and mathematics, social studies and other subjects are taught bilingually by both teachers. By the end of primary school, pupils will be able to speak and write in German and their first foreign language, with basic skills in the second foreign language. Parents decide at the beginning whether their child will attend an “E” or an “S” class focused on English or Spanish.

Mental Wellbeing

The school's rhythmised approach spreads lessons throughout the day to allow review and downtime. It is a full-day school with supervision from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and lessons run with an after-school option until 6:00 p.m. A leisure and holiday programme expands learning beyond class time, including activities such as yoga for children, drama, chess, handicrafts and collaboration with a music school, with frequent excursions to museums, theatres and other destinations.
