1. Choose the division and year level. Green Heights International School has American Division and British Division. The American Division offers KG Stage I through Grade 12, and the British Division offers KG Stage I through Year 12. Applications are accepted for students across Kindergarten to Grade 12 in the respective division.
2. Year-group placement. GHIS has a strict policy of placing children in year groups according to their date of birth, based on a September–June academic year. The placement policy ensures alignment with the school's calendar. Your child's birth date determines the year level for admission.
3. Language eligibility and screening. Non-English native speakers may be evaluated by Admissions staff, the Stage Principal, and/or the Stage Coordinator prior to admission to ensure a successful integration into the standard classroom. The evaluation helps determine appropriate language support needs or placement. The evaluation occurs as part of the admission screening.
4. Application outcomes and required steps. All applications to GHIS are considered on an individual basis. Admission is finalized only after all required paperwork has been submitted to the Admissions Office. Admission also depends on evaluating previous school records, passing an admissions examination, and a personal interview with the General Manager.
5. Curricula and program options. The school provides an Early Years program. The American Division follows the Virginia Standards of Learning with core subjects including Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The British Division emphasizes high standards in teaching and learning, and GHIS also offers IGCSE as a secondary program.
