Grenaa Gymnasium is a Danish upper-secondary school offering STX, HF and International Baccalaureate Diploma. Classes and materials are taught in English, and there is a Boarding School on campus for students who live away from home. The school invites international mindedness through its association with IB since 2003, and it joined the Global Gymnasiums network in 2010, including the STX Global Line with Shanghai No. 8 Senior High School. The curriculum centres on STX, HF and IB Diploma, with ten study lines in STX focusing on music, languages, sciences or social studies. The on-site library supports study with access to Bibliotek.dk, Ebook Central and JSTOR, and there are science laboratories and partnerships such as the Academy for Talent Youth with Aarhus University. Distinctive programs include music and visual arts activities, Model United Nations and global days. Facilities include social spaces, a cinema, a canteen, and dedicated staff for boarding students.

Light rail (Letbane) and buses between Grenaa and Aarhus, and buses between Grenaa and Randers, depart about once an hour. Aarhus Airport (Tirstrup) is about 23 km from Grenaa Gymnasium.
STX and HF are Danish upper-secondary programs offered at Grenaa Gymnasium. The IB Diploma is available for students with an international background, with all teaching and materials in English.

The Academy for Talented Youth (Akademiet for Talentfulde Unge) takes place at Aarhus University. Over two years, Grenaa Gymnasium students participate in a programme with students from other upper-secondary schools to explore university disciplines. The Science Club provides assistance from teachers in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, physical geography, geology and astronomy; Youth Spring Exhibition is an annual art exhibition for young people.
Guidance and Support is provided for student well-being from day one. Counsellors are available to assist students with wellbeing and academic concerns. The counsellors are Jacob Kjærgaard and Nina Ø. Lauritzen.
Support is available for reading and/or writing difficulties.
All Pre-IB and IB Diploma instruction is in English. A high level of proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
Mental wellbeing is supported; there is guidance and support for examination anxiety.
All applications for Pre-IB, IB, and Boarding School are submitted electronically in OpenApply. OpenApply is the secure platform used for applications and communication. Grenaa Gymnasium runs three admission rounds for Pre-IB and IB: Round 1 deadline 1 December; Round 2 deadline 12 January; Round 3 deadline 28 February; later applications from 1 March onward may be admitted only if vacancies exist. Pre-IB requires applying in both optagelse.dk (select Pre-IB as FORRANG) and OpenApply; meet STX admission requirements; high level English; ability to read complex English; bring your own laptop; you will need the calculator required for IB. IB Diploma requires a direct OpenApply application; completion of Pre-IB or first year of STX; GPA that meets STX requirements and an overall IB average above 4; high English proficiency and high proficiency in the other subjects you choose; demonstrate alignment with Grenaa Gymnasium's core values and the IB Mission Statement. Documents needed: latest report card; reference from current school; personal statement; copy of passport. Boarding School applicants must apply for a room at the Boarding School at the same time as applying for STX, HF, Pre-IB, or IB via OpenApply; Danish boarding applicants applying to STX/HF must select Boarding School as FORRANG on optagelse.dk. There is no tuition fee; boarding fees apply and reductions may be available for low income with properly documented income/tax information; a birth certificate may be required for minor siblings.

How the waiting list works: If an applicant is not admitted, they may be offered a place on the waiting list. The list is not prioritized; when a place becomes available, Grenaa Gymnasium looks for a suitable match in terms of age, gender, and subject choices. For round three, applicants not admitted may be added to the waiting list.
