The school uses two uniforms: a daily uniform and a sports uniform. A new uniform design featuring a 3D CAH logo was introduced for the 2024-2025 academic year. Uniforms are sold through authorized providers MaferUniformes and Skole, with care instructions and sizing guidance available.

The school cafeteria is operated by The Academy Shop. It is a Smart Bar with digital payments via the PayMon mobile app and a self-service kiosk. Pre-orders for snacks and lunches are available through the app, and a downloadable Menu Escolar is provided for reference.

The school is sponsored by the CAHGYE Association (Asociación Colegio Alemán Humboldt de Guayaquil) and is governed by three bodies: the Executive Council, the General Rectorate, and the Administrative and Financial Directorate, operating within the Auslandsschulqualitätsmanagement (AQM) framework.

German is taught through immersion across many subjects, with five weekly German classes as a foreign language in secondary. From 8th grade, two additional subjects (Biology and History) are taught in German to support IB requirements, and students prepare for the Deutsches Sprachdiplom I with an international benchmarking process conducted in 8th grade. Language competencies follow CEFR progression: A1-A2 in early years, A2-B1 in middle years, and B2-C1 in Bachillerato, with the Sprachdiplom acting as an international language credential. English begins in fifth grade with immersion, and the program aims for high levels (B2, C1, or C2), supported by Cambridge Assessment and TOEFL preparation. The Bachillerato Internacional (IB Diploma) is offered, including Mini-CAS and CAS components, a bilingual IB library, internships in Germany, and university visits; IB-related activities include the Noche IB, Intercambiales, and a group 4 project week. The school promotes multilingualism and international study alongside its German and IB curricula.

Higher education is supported through university fairs and visits as part of the vocational guidance program, with opportunities to explore universities in Germany (including Studienkollegs) and to engage with university systems abroad. English-language university routes are supported through TOEFL and Cambridge assessments, and the IB Diploma provides pathways to universities worldwide. The school also offers internships and university visits as part of its guidance for higher education, with international exposure through its IB and language programs.

Aula de Talentos is an enrichment space for students who excel in one or more subjects (with a diagnosis of high capacity—simple talents, compound talents, or gifted). It enhances cognitive abilities, creativity, social skills, and autonomous work through project-based learning and the theory of multiple intelligences. The program offers activities in cognitive enrichment, creativity and lateral thinking, mathematical and linguistic skills, social-emotional development, and portfolio creation, with a rotating-door model that allows targeted enrichment and continuous learning.

The DECE reinforces cognitive and socio-emotional skills and supports the CAH community through three areas: family guidance, psychology, and psychopedagogy. Family guidance is provided both reactively and preventively to strengthen family bonds and offer problem‑solving options. Psychology attends to children and adolescents upon teacher, parent, or student/peer request and suggests paths for individualized support while maintaining confidentiality. Psychopedagogy centers on the child and addresses identified learning difficulties, with two approaches: compensating the deficit and applying teaching strategies. Playful accompaniment supports student integration and social development within the school community.

English as a second language begins in fifth grade after German and Spanish have been established. The program uses an immersion approach to acquire English, developing all four language skills toward high international benchmarks. The goal is for students to reach levels such as B2, C1, or C2 for university access. The school partners with Cambridge Assessment and prepares students for Cambridge English exams and TOEFL, alongside IB English B High Level preparation. Cambridge exam results have included high levels from C2 to B2, reflecting strong language development. The program provides pathways for university admissions and scholarships through English proficiency certification.

Mental health is defined as the ability to recognize and express feelings, avoid accumulating frustration, and take on new challenges. A healthy mindset helps students cope with mistakes, reducing anxiety and panic and reinforcing that making errors is not the end of the world. Mental health involves self‑assessment without overthinking and maintaining an inner voice that is compassionate rather than punitive. It supports confident self‑expression and resilience in academic and personal life.

The Colegio Alemán Quito is located at Calle Alfonso Lamiña S6-120, Cumbayá. The campus is in a residential area of Cumbayá. The school provides bus routes with connections from Quito/Valle de los Chillos/Puembo to CAQ and from Cumbayá/Tumbaco to CAQ. From 3rd grade onward, transport is not door-to-door and uses designated pickup points.

The school day starts at 7:30 for classes 2–12 and at 8:15 for Prekindergarten and Kindergarten. Extracurricular activities and Musikschule begin around 18:00.

Bus transport is offered with monthly costs; routes include Quito/Valle de los Chillos/Puembo – CAQ and Cumbayá/Tumbaco – CAQ. The service is not door-to-door from 3rd grade onward and uses designated pickup points. Changes to bus assignments require a form; belts must be worn; coordinators and assistants are available for contact.

Uniform is mandatory for all students. Uniforms are sold by Procoser, El Greco, and SKOLE; orders can be placed online with home delivery or in-store pickup, with multiple store locations including Plaza del Rancho and a temporary Plaza Valeta location.

La Colina del Chef provides snacks and lunch to all DSQ students and staff. Parents register in the app, create profiles for their child(ren), specify their division and class, and payments are processed through the app; students are identified by name and fingerprint at the canteen.

AEACE is the legal representative of Colegio Alemán Quito. The association consists mainly of German and Ecuadorian members; the annual member assembly elects the board, which runs the school on a voluntary basis. Membership is obtainable by applying to AEACE via the school secretariat.

Begegnungsschule that unites the Ecuadorian school system with the international German school system. All students obtain the Ecuadorian Bachillerato, and those who wish and meet requirements may obtain the Deutsches internationales Abitur (DIA). The school is bicultural and multilingual, with Germany providing personnel and support. In the first four years of Primaria, instruction is by a class teacher; from grades 5–9, instruction is by subject teachers; at the end of the 9th grade it is determined which international and German qualifications will define the path from grade 10.

Approximately 1,600 students are taught by more than 180 teachers, giving a student–teacher ratio of about 9:1.

All students obtain the Ecuadorian Bachillerato, and those who wish and meet requirements may obtain the Deutsches internacionales Abitur (DIA), enabling access to higher education.

Begabtenförderung selects academically outstanding students from classes 5–11 twice per school year; participants work with subject teachers to set and pursue individual goals, with the aim of preparing for international competitions.

1. Kindergarten admissions (2026-2027): The admissions process runs in three phases. Children born between 01.09.2022 and 31.08.2023 may apply. Applications are online from 08.09.2025 to 06.03.2026 and may be submitted for any phase; after each phase, the result is announced. An interview with the parents occurs during the evaluation, so both guardians should attend. The day and time for the play sessions and evaluation are communicated when documents are submitted. 3958800 ext. 117.

2. Primary admissions: There are three pathways to admission: national section (Spanish-language), transfers from other German schools, and the German-language section (Section E). For the national section, waitlist admission is possible only for applicants with a nexus to the school; if seats are available, the Secretariat will inform the evaluation dates. Before evaluations, parents submit copies of IDs, certificates of prior years (apostilled if studies were done abroad), and a letter requesting admission. Evaluations test German, Mathematics in German, and Spanish, with English added for admission to the 6th grade (7th Ed. Basica). Enrollment after admission requires completing enrollment forms, providing a medical certificate, and paying the applicable fees.

3. Secondary admissions: Information regarding exceptional admissions to the national section. Exceptional admissions are possible only up to 1st Bachillerato (Class 10), subject to seat availability and with prerequisite German knowledge. Applicants must take tests in German, Mathematics in German, English, and Spanish; results and recommendations are communicated through the Vice-rectorate or Secretariat. Enrollment after admission requires original grade certificates (apostilled and translated if studied abroad) and copies of the student and parents passports; after validation, enrollment is completed at the Secondary Secretariat. Scholarships: Applications for scholarships follow a turn-based system active from 03.02.2026 to 03.03.2026. The presence of a legal guardian is required; the form must be completed in full and signed by both guardians. The form must be printed and submitted with all supporting documents; if there are questions about documents, contact the Assistant Manager Laura Langer. The decision notice, which is final, will be sent in the first days of May. Waitlist: For the Primary national section, waitlist admissions are possible only for applicants with a nexus to the school. Nexos include siblings at the school; child of alumni; child of former scholarship recipients of German universities or German schools; children with German, Austrian, or Swiss passports; and children of CAQ staff or faculty. If seats are available, the Secretariat will inform the dates for evaluations. Before evaluations, parents must submit copies of the child and parents IDs, prior-year certificates (apostilled if studied abroad), and a letter of admission request.
