Asian International School in Sri Lanka offers a British curriculum for ages 2 to 17, guiding students to Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and International A Levels. Exam Results 2025 show strong performance with multiple candidates achieving As and As in Pearson Edexcel A Levels and a number of Grade 9s in IGCSE. Exam results for 2024 include several As and As at A Level and multiple high grades at IGCSE. Exam results for 2023 reflect continued achievement across A Levels and IGCSE.
AIS reports university placements to universities in the USA, the UK, Australia, Canada, and Singapore. AIS integrates academic learning with social and emotional development. The Middle School explicitly combines academics with social and emotional learning to build a foundation for happiness and life success. The Upper School maintains an inclusive, diverse environment and has a committed team of professionals to address learning as well as behavioral difficulties in support of student wellbeing. The Junior School emphasizes developing cognitive and social and emotional skills to interact harmoniously with peers and adults. Students engage in co-curricular activities such as drama, debating, singing, dancing and musical theatre, as well as sports and community service, to foster teamwork, resilience and personal growth.
AIS employs staff with qualifications in Special Needs Education and learning difficulties. The Head of Junior School holds a Diploma in Special Needs Education, and other senior and junior school staff have related qualifications, including a Diploma in Special Needs Education and a Diploma in Montessori Education. Some staff also hold a Certificate in Teaching Children with Learning Difficulties (OUSL). This demonstrates an inclusive approach with trained personnel to support diverse learning needs.
The school provides English language instruction supported by staff with English Language Teaching qualifications. The Academic Staff includes teachers with a Diploma in English Language Teaching. AIS also follows the British National Curriculum, which is typically delivered in English.

The school has a zero-tolerance policy on bullying and a formal safeguarding framework. It is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all students and promotes inclusion through initiatives such as TASLAH (Take a Stand and Lend a Hand). Staff are trained to look for signs of distress, trauma and abuse to facilitate intervention, and safeguarding is linked to welfare and overall wellbeing across the school community.
Step 1: You may collect the prospectus from the school office between 7.30am and 2.00pm. Documents needed include a copy of the birth certificate and a current passport-size photograph of the student. The admission form is downloadable from the Admissions page.
Step 2: Entry tests involve student assessments in English and Mathematics. Entry tests will take place after submitting the completed admission application. Students entering senior school (IGCSE and Advanced Level classes) will have to provide a copy of their school reports.
Step 3: Scheduling an interview with the Principal. The final process of the admissions procedure will involve an informal interview with the principal.
AIS students awarded scholarships: Yehalah Fernando – Dartmouth College (Class of 2026) with a full scholarship covering tuition and living expenses. Dunara Cooray – New York University with a 50% scholarship to study Psychology. Anushika Mahendiran – University of Melbourne with a 50% scholarship for a Bachelor of Commerce. Hatim Rehmanjee – New York University Abu Dhabi with a 100% scholarship for Computer Science.
