The curriculum features the IB Diploma Programme, Cambridge IGCSE, and Cambridge International AS Levels. This inquiry-based approach covers Information Technology and Computing; Art, Music, Drama and Games; Physical Education; Personal and Social Education; and Religion or World Views, with French introduced in Grade 4. The school runs a bilingual English/Spanish programme, with English and Spanish as core languages and French as an additional language; Mandarin Chinese and Italian are optional. Curriculum

The Primary Section curriculum follows two curricular frameworks: the British National Curriculum and the Peruvian National Curriculum, underpinned by the Essentials Curriculum designed by Chris Quigley. It emphasises developing the whole child through an inquiry-based approach and provides a balanced programme across core subjects and the arts. The Primary curriculum covers Information Technology and Computing, Religion or World Views, Art, Personal and Social Education, Music, Physical Education, and Drama and Games; French is introduced as a third language in Grade 4. The school offers a bilingual English/Spanish programme, with English and Spanish as core languages and French available as an additional language; Mandarin Chinese and Italian are optional courses. In the Secondary years, students may pursue the San Silvestre Diploma (SSD) through a one-year programme with Cambridge AS Levels or IB subjects, or undertake the Cambridge IGCSE pathway and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).

Student Teacher Ratio

Average class sizes are about 20 students in both Primary and Secondary; small class sizes are maintained, not exceeding 22 in any class. The school is supported by more than 200 qualified teachers and teaching assistants, and around 1,400 students are enrolled across the whole school.

IGCSE results show around 80% of students achieve grade C or higher in IGCSE exams in recent years. In the IB programme, 97.3% of candidates have passed IB exams over the last seven years, including four perfect scores of 45/45. The school offers Cambridge AS Levels and IB courses within its higher education pathways.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

80 years dedicated exclusively to the intellectual, social and emotional growth of girls. The San Silvestre Way empowers girls through holistic education to become compassionate, proactive citizens of an ever-changing world. The mission promotes lifelong learning and aims to develop contented, confident, knowledgeable, successful, active and committed members of a global society. Fostering empathy for others and building positive relationships among students, parents, staff and the wider community are central principles.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

San Silvestre offers personalised support for children with special needs. In Early Years, Primary and Secondary, needs are identified and assessed and an individual programme of support is prepared in close liaison with teachers. The approach includes exercises in both languages and activities designed by Special Needs teachers to help students improve in areas that limit their achievement. Close communication with parents ensures total support for the pupil.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Language learning is a distinctive sign of the bilingual English–Spanish character. English forms an integral part of the curriculum and many courses are taught in English. In Early Years, English language acquisition is developed naturally; in Primary, many subjects are taught in English, with French introduced as a third language in Grade Four. In Secondary, English and Spanish are studied daily, literature is taught in both languages, and French, Mandarin and Italian are offered as optional courses.

Mental Wellbeing

To empower girls through a holistic education to become compassionate, proactive citizens of an ever-changing world. The Vision emphasizes learning as a lifelong process and aims for students to be contented, confident, knowledgeable, successful, active and committed members of a global society. Principles include care for individual development, living values, respect for self, others and the environment, and fostering empathy and strong relationships within the school and wider community. This focus supports mental wellbeing as an integral part of education.
