Riga State Gymnasium No. 2 is a co-educational public gymnasium under Riga City Council, located at Krišjāņa Valdemāma iela 1 in Riga. The school delivers general secondary education with an integrated International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP). The DP sits within the Latvian-language curriculum and is taught bilingually in Latvian and English in the 11th and 12th grades. DP subjects include Literature A (Latvian) SL/HL, English B HL, Economics SL/HL, History SL, Physics SL, Chemistry SL/HL, Biology SL/HL, Mathematics SL/HL, along with Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service. The building is a state architectural monument dating from 1876–1879; it underwent major renovations in 2007–2009, adding accessibility features, a canteen, and restored fencing. Instruction is conducted in Latvian. The school also offers mathematics- and humanities-oriented tracks, a stand-alone IB option, and extensive extracurriculars, including masterclasses, Skolas soma activities, and a Student Council, with sports and Olympiad participation for students.
