BBIA implements a Social, Personal, and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum as a core feature of its primary education. The programme fosters pupil well-being, self-confidence, sense of belonging, responsibility for behaviour, and awareness of others. It covers three strands: Myself (self-identity, safety, decisions), Myself and Others (family, friends, relationships), and Myself and the Wider World (citizenship, media literacy). SPHE is delivered through a whole-school approach with a specialist SPHE education coordinator, form tutors, and cross-curricular integration. Assessment focuses on pupils' knowledge and understanding as well as how they apply skills and attitudes in discussion, group work, and decision-making. The programme is reinforced through assemblies, school council activities, trips, and extra-curricular projects to help pupils become confident, responsible citizens.
BBIA is committed to inclusive education and has a team of qualified teachers, co-teachers, and specialist staff to support diverse needs. Children with special educational needs may require learning, social, or emotional provisions, and these are addressed through differentiated instruction and individualized support plans. The school uses a graduated approach (Assess, Plan, Do, Review) with regular progress reviews at 3, 6, and 12 weeks, guided by the SEN Coordinator. Admission is on an equal basis, with parents informing the school of known or suspected SEN, and resources considered to determine suitability for mainstream education. If external assessment or support is needed, referrals are arranged and parents may be responsible for related costs; 1:1 support is provided where required.
BBIA hosts students from over 50 nationalities, with many arriving with little or no English. The EAL programme helps learners access the curriculum, integrate socially, and make rapid progress. From day one, students are immersed in English in a nurturing environment while home languages and cultural backgrounds are valued. Targeted EAL support includes timetabled lessons alongside mainstream classes, focusing on developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing, building academic vocabulary, and supporting classroom comprehension. EAL specialists tailor support to each learner, progress is reviewed, and EAL provision is adapted in collaboration with subject teachers to promote independence in the long term.
BBIA places mental well-being at the heart of its SPHE curriculum and school life. The SPHE programme fosters self-esteem, resilience, healthy relationships, and responsible decision making, helping pupils manage emotions and social challenges. It promotes a safe, inclusive environment where pupils feel heard and valued, and where adults are approachable for support. Well-being is supported through assemblies, school council involvement, pastoral guidance, and safeguarding practices as part of daily school life. Regular assessment and feedback ensure that well-being goals align with personal development and overall education.
BBIA has a safeguarding and child protection policy with designated safeguarding leads for EYFS, Primary, and Secondary. All staff receive training and annual refreshers on safeguarding; designated leads oversee reporting and response procedures. The school ensures staff and volunteers undergo appropriate checks, including DBS where applicable, and recruitment follows safer practices. There are clear procedures for identifying concerns, recording communications, and referring cases to relevant authorities, with ongoing support for pupils. The policy commits to maintaining a safe, caring environment and to annual review and updates.
BBIA Budapest offers the full English National Curriculum, culminating in Pearson IGCSE examinations at age 16 and A Levels at age 18, and is a certified Pearson Edexcel examination centre. Applications are accepted throughout the academic year with no fixed deadlines. The school reviews each application and may request a follow-up discussion or assessment to ensure the best placement for the child. A meeting with the Admissions Officer is encouraged to begin the process, and campus tours may be arranged; children are welcome to attend the first visit when possible. Languages: English is the main language of instruction; Spanish and German are offered as foreign languages (taught twice weekly); Hungarian is available three times a week as a native or beginner course. Extracurricular activities include more than 20 clubs and activities, modern science labs and art studios, seasonal field trips, and participation in various academic competitions. Non-native English speakers receive English as an Additional Language (EAL) support through small-group instruction and one-to-one coaching, with progress tracked by diagnostics. The school is located at 1036 Budapest, Árpád fejedelem útja 79.
