ISU is an all-day, English-speaking IB World School in Neu-Ulm, Germany, serving ages 3 to 17. It combines the IB Primary Years Programme for Kindergarten through Grade 5 with the IB Diploma Programme for Grades 11–12, and offers Cambridge IGCSE in the Upper School. The ISU Diploma is awarded alongside the IB Diploma and allows Mittlere Reife in Germany. The curriculum emphasizes international-mindedness and global perspectives. The campus features dedicated rooms for science, music, art and technology, a performance hall, a cafeteria, and an outside play area, with science and IT laboratories to support learning. A large gym and an indoor swimming pool are nearby. ISU participates in GISST and has a broad sport program. An After School Activity Programme runs in Fall, Winter, and Spring, with 2–3 training sessions per week. Activities include drama, design technology, garden club, and student-led initiatives such as the yearbook.

Lower School day begins with arrival 8:00–8:15, lessons from 8:15–15:45, lunch 11:40–12:30; dismissal 15:45–16:00; After School Care 16:00–17:00. Middle and Upper School start at 8:00–8:15 with periods from 8:15–15:45 and lunch 12:30–13:15; Early Morning Care runs 7:00–8:00.

ISU assesses applicants with limited English proficiency or special needs, such as dyslexia, ADHD, and medical intervention, to determine whether the school can offer the necessary educational program.
ISU offers an inquiry-based program in English for students from ages 3 to 18. Applicants with limited English proficiency are assessed by the head of school to determine the appropriate educational program. The language of instruction is English.
Mental wellbeing is addressed as part of ISU's student welfare approach. Safeguarding policies cover emotional well-being, physical safety, and online security. Staff undergo safeguarding and child-protection training on a regular basis. There are clear channels for reporting concerns, which are addressed promptly and confidentially. Safeguarding is a shared responsibility among the school community.

1. Get in touch with ISU's Admissions Team by email or phone. Tell us about your child, your preferred start date and any specific needs. The Admissions Team will answer your initial questions and guide you through the next steps.
2. Visit ISU. Join us for a school tour to see our campus and classrooms in action. During the visit we will explain our programmes, daily routines, and answer any questions. Families who are not yet in Ulm/Neu-Ulm are welcome to arrange an online meeting instead.
3. Student try-out day. Your child is invited for a try-out day with the appropriate class. The day helps us understand their needs and allows them to experience ISU life. The format can vary by age, from a shorter play visit in Early Years to a full or half day for Primary and Secondary students.
4. Online application. Complete the online application form and upload the required documents, such as school reports, passport or birth certificate and medical information. Start the application process!
5. Admissions decision. Our Admissions Team and School Leadership Team review the application, try-out day feedback and available support we can offer. We then inform you whether we can offer your child a place or, in some cases, have to decline the application.
6. School contract. To secure the place for your child, you sign the school contract and confirm the start date. After we have received completed contract, you will receive further information for your child's first day.
Required documents (for all applicants): birth certificate or passport, proof of measles vaccination, last 3 school/kindergarten reports, and any learning support documentation if relevant. If applicable, include custody/court orders, additional medical information, and other documents requested by the Admissions Team. Grade-level documents: Grades 1–5 require a recommendation letter from the current homeroom or Kindergarten teacher; Grades 6–8 require a recommendation letter from the Principal and a handwritten student self-evaluation; Grades 9–12 require a recommendation letter from the Principal and letters from Math and English teachers, plus an official transcript and a handwritten student essay.
ISU offers a Financial Aid Programme providing eligible applicants with societally reasonable tuition fees. Natural persons who are self-payers can apply for a reduction of tuition fees if the family's means prevent full payment. Since 2025, Förderverein Internationale Schule Ulm/Neu-Ulm e.V. aims to enrich ISU students' education by supporting projects beyond the curriculum and removing financial barriers to ensure equal opportunities for all students.
