Curriculum

The school offers five curricular streams: American System, British System, French System, National English System, and International Baccalaureate. The Curriculum Design page describes a student-centered approach that aligns standards and content with learners' needs. Under the National English System, the curriculum follows the Ministry of Education with Core Subjects for Grades 4–9 (Math, Science, Arabic, English, Social Studies) and Core for Grades 1–3 (Math, English, Arabic) plus General Subjects such as Religion, Computer, Art, Agriculture, and Home Economics. The British System uses Cambridge/IGCSE progression with Checkpoint and IGCSE phases, aligned with the Egyptian curriculum. The IB Programme is established, with the First Settlement campus authorized for IB and the Shorouk campus as a candidate for the Diploma Programme. The school emphasizes blended learning and Global Citizenship as core pillars.

Higher Education Progression

Graduates have progressed to study at Columbia University (Zeina AboLaban), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Sherif Sharaf), The American University in Cairo (Farida el Deeb), and Lesley University (Noureen Farnawany).

Gifted and Talented

FMAI Scholarship Program provides Academic Scholarships for top students (1st Preparatory and above, top percentile with at least 95% in the previous year) and Athletic Scholarships for high-achieving athletes.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

NIS operates a behavior management program that reinforces appropriate interpersonal skills and social behavior with a positive, non-adversarial approach. Counseling services focus on anger management, relaxation techniques, self-control, and self-esteem. Students learn their roles and responsibilities as citizens and the positive impact they can have in the wider community. Instruction teaches how students can access community and public services and resources to function successfully outside the school setting. Parental involvement is encouraged through open houses, awards ceremonies, and monthly advisory meetings. The program includes school-wide and classroom standards, intervention techniques, social skills, and character education, with ongoing staff development and data-informed progress monitoring.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The National English System provides English language instruction across grades with emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The English program uses dialogues and cross-curricular materials to connect language learning to students' lives. Technology is integrated, with interactive whiteboard materials and videos supporting language practice. The curriculum aims to give all learners a solid knowledge of English structure and context. The program is designed to support learners who are not daily exposed to English.

Mental Wellbeing

Counseling services focus on anger management, relaxation techniques, self-control, and self-esteem. A behavior management program supports a positive, proactive approach to social behavior and appropriate interpersonal skills. Counselors work with students to develop social and emotional resilience. Students learn how to access community and public services to support their well-being. Parental involvement is encouraged to support student well-being.
